I dropped these nuggets on Reddit today when someone was asking how they can learn digital marketing.

I think one of the best ways to learn digital marketing—and many other skills—is by doing a project that uses those skills to accomplish your goal.

Let's look at the tactics, techniques, and procedures of digital marketing and how you can learn some of them by actually having a product to sell.

An easy product to begin selling online is someone else's product. 🧠

You don't have to build the product. You just sell it.

That's affiliate marketing.

There are really only 3 things you need to do affiliate marketing. This is basically what Dan Koe talks about in his One Person Business Model (OPBM) videos and newsletters.

1) An Audience: Threads, Twitter, or TikTok, whichever you use the most.

• I use Kortex to write and organize my social and blog posts.

2) A Product/Service: Once you have a niche—think of things you already do and like—find a product for it.

• In this case it's digital products like ebooks or templates.

3) A place to sell: Beacons, Stan.Store, Payhip, or Fourthwall - unless you do Etsy.

• It's also the place where you bring in da mon-ehy. 💰🫰🏽

That's pretty much it.

Social media is your marketing. You post content that people want or need. Easiest is something you have already used and it worked for you.

Collect email addresses for longer term value by offering a free "lead magnet".

How do I get traffic?

• Your link in bio points to your store, or is your store! Beacons and Stan.Store are basically amped up versions of Linktree. I can talk about those in another blog post.

• Give people tips and advice on social and Reddit, LinkedIn etc.

• Occasionally drop your affiliate links where appropriate to people who can actually use what you have. Context is important! Many online places don't like link spamming or ban affiliate links completely. Do your homework. Or ask me, that's what I'm here for. 🤓 Drop a question in the comments below!

• After a while people will start asking for advice which can later lead to sales.
